If you just happen to be a fan of stories of dragons and dragon riders, look no further than here. This exciting series was started by 15-year-old Christopher Paolini and it has since kicked off a worldwide fandom.

Summary:

Eragon was just a bored farm boy who somehow finds a dragon egg (COOL!) and a dragon named Saphira hatches for him. But some evil king is after him because of Saphira and after Eragon loses his uncle, he reluctantly skips town and goes off with Brom the storyteller (who’s really a dragon rider and somebody’s DADDY!!! But we’re not telling who.). Anyway, Eragon is now in a world of dragons and dragon riders, magic, and he knows his destiny is to one day fight the evil king and defeat him.

And then bad things happen, such as Brom dies and Eragon and Saphira are all by themselves. Luckily, they gain an ally named Murtagh and they even rescued the captured elf Arya (who had sent the dragon egg to Eragon). They make their way to the Varden (a group of people trying to take down the evil king) where a battle is fought and Eragon scores some huge points with everyone (by killing a shade named Durza and getting his back sliced in the process).

My Review: this happened to be a very interesting story even though I believed the movie was much better. I enjoyed reading it.

My recomendation: Anyone who loves a story about magic and dragons and big battles will want to read this book.

My rating: ****
